The Divine Triangle Numerology with S. Y. Kelake
Numerology

The Divine Triangle

Your name and your date of birth, read as numbers. Four core numbers come out of them: what you are here to learn, what your heart wants, how others first see you, and where your life is tending. Each one is paired with a Tarot key, a picture of the same energy seen in image rather than counted in figures.

Every reading is prepared personally by S. Y. Kelake: £35 including the full PDF and breakdown, or £55 as The Full Picture with a personal I Ching reading.

Readings follow the system of Faith Javane and Dusty Bunker, Numerology and the Divine Triangle. Read them as a mirror, not a map: take what speaks, leave what does not, and return to them in time.

The system

How the numbers are worked out

Nothing here is hidden. Every number in your reading can be checked by hand with a pencil, and the reading shows its working so that you can.

Letters become numbers

A is 1, B is 2, and so on up to I, which is 9. Then the count begins again: J is 1, K is 2, and on to Z. Y is counted as a consonant. Each letter of the full birth name is given its number.

Four core numbers

The Soul adds the vowels: what the heart wants. The Outer Personality adds the consonants: how others first see you. The Path of Destiny adds every letter: where the life is tending. The Life Lesson adds the month, the day and the reduced year of birth: the central lesson.

Reducing, and the master numbers

Totals are added digit by digit until one figure remains, so 35 becomes 3 and 5, which is 8. The masters 11, 22, 33 and 44 are kept whole. The two-digit total before the last step is kept as well, written as 35/8, because it carries the deeper reading.

Two facets

There are two accepted ways of reducing the birth year, and for some dates they give different Life Lessons. When that happens, both are shown. A person often lives one facet strongly in one season of life and grows into the other later.

The year ahead

Each Personal Year runs from birthday to birthday, in a nine-year cycle: a 1 year plants the seed and a 9 year clears the ground. Each year has three four-month periods and twelve personal months, all shown in your reading.

The Tarot keys

Each core number carries a card from the Major Arcana, shown here in the original 1909 deck by Pamela Colman Smith. The card is not a separate fortune. It is the same energy as the number, seen in a picture.

Where numerology comes from

As with the I Ching, there is the story the tradition tells, and there is what historians can show. Both are worth knowing.

  1. Ancient GreeceThe tradition says

Pythagoras and his followers taught that number lies beneath all things, from the harmony of a plucked string to the movement of the stars. Modern numerology carries his name and honours that idea.

  2. The early twentieth centuryHistorians have found

The method used here, turning the letters of a name into numbers from 1 to 9, took its modern shape in the early 1900s. It borrows Pythagoras's name more than his actual teaching, which is worth knowing as you read.

  3. 1979History

Faith Javane and Dusty Bunker published Numerology and the Divine Triangle, joining the numbers to the Tarot and arranging the name numbers as a triangle with the Life Lesson at its centre. This site follows their system.

  4. TodayOur time

Numerology is best read the way the old teachers read any symbol: as a language for reflection. It cannot see your future. It can help you notice your own patterns, and that is a great deal.

Using it with care

Using it with care

I want everyone who makes a reading here to leave a little clearer and a little steadier than they arrived. That means being honest about what numerology can and cannot do.

A mirror, not a map

A reading describes tendencies and leanings, never a fixed fate. Notice what you hoped it would say. Take what rings true, test it against your real life, and leave the rest. If a reading ever seems to tell you to harm yourself or anyone else, trust your conscience over the numbers every time.

It is not professional advice

Nothing here is medical, psychological, legal, financial or careers advice. The vocations section shows leanings to notice, never limits. For real decisions about health, money or work, speak to someone qualified. A reading can help you prepare for those conversations.

Readings about other people

A reading looks closely at a person's name and birth. Make one for someone else only with their blessing, and share it with them, not about them. For a child, read every number as a tendency to nurture, never a label.

Your privacy

Names, birth dates, readings and your journal stay in the browser on your own device. When you request a reading, your name, date of birth and any notes come to me by email and are used only to prepare your reading. Nothing else on this page is sent anywhere.
